Big news in our home! Someone’s pregnant!

S
Some of you have been wondering where I’ve been since I haven’t posted in a while. Well, Big NEWS, I’m pregnant! Wow, it’s a far cry from what I was doing last summer- bikini competitions and being Single Digit Body Fat! Last year was all about getting lean & fit and doing crazy competitions. This year is all about gaining weight, in the right places of course for having a healthy baby!  As you can see from the Picture Mark is ecstatic, and I’m rockin’ the Bump now!   Everyone wants to touch my belly it’s hilarilous!

I’m over half way through my pregnancy and I have learned a lot through this process about diet, lifestyle habits and exercise. Even though I already train clients who are pregnant, being prego gave me a whole new appreciation for what they are going through when they train with me.  Thanks for all your love and support Ladies!

I avoided the deficiencies that can be linked to pregnancy and I have had a very comfortable pregnancy overall. I did feel the nausea most women feel in the 1st trimester, but I did learn some secrets about how to lessen it, but luckily I got through it pretty quickly also.  It was still tough though, so again I have such an appreciation for other women who have had children and of course my Mom and Grandma!

Since I didn’t get a chance to make another holiday recipe this year yet, here’s the link to one I made in the past that’s super yummy and healthy! It’s my holiday cranberry orange scones. They are flourless and sooo yummy with agave coconut oil spread. Your family will love them and not even know you are feeding them something healthy! A little trickery never hurt any one! 🙂   Have a wonderful Holiday Season with your family and look for more recipes and Health tips soon!

Wishing you wellness,

Kardena

Thank you. That’s wonderful you were a midwife. I hear they are more common in Europe than here. I will also be using a midwife and doula.
Have a wonderful 2012.

Hi Kardena,

great news! I am also pregnant and have a similar situation – I got to my ideal weight and fitness levels and am now watching it slip away as I get bigger and more exhausted. Would love to hear your tips and any blog posts on pregnancy!

Congratulations! Haha, yes it is a strange and scary feeling when your body changes. But the farther along in my pregnancy I get, the more excited I get and the more I feel it’s totally worth it. During my pregnancy I have found ways to relieve leg cramps, get rid of low back pain, make sure I get those regular bowel movements that are so important. 🙂 I will post some of my findings!

And baby makes 3!!! Yay!! Congrats to you and your husband! Wishing you all well!
This comes at a time when we are planning for a 2nd! (Oh boy!!) I gained 50lbs that I’m still not free of. I had “morning” sickness ALL DAY LONG and nothing stayed down except tinned spaghetti!! (Can’t even look at them now!!) I’d like some tips from you on how you keep it all together (food wise) and how to beat the sickness. Happy holidays!

Thank you! I wish you a healthy pregnancy. I also experienced all day sickness but luckily it didn’t last past the 1st trimester! I did find ways to alleviate some of the nausea and make it more bearable. There were some foods I ate when I had morning sickness that were so bland I couldn’t believe I liked them. Now I wouldn’t eat them, like bean burritos. I will start posting some tips for soon to be mothers. Happy Holidays!

Congratulations, Kardena! I bought your ebook after the birth of my first child because I wanted to learn how to eat lean as a vegan…you opened my eyes to a whole new world of food. I had been vegan for a while but didn’t know how to “navigate” the world of veganism properly. There is a learning curve.

Of course, following your meal plan alongside breastfeeding and walking for 30 minutes almost every day guaranteed my postpartum pounds shaved off like they were never there. After baby, I am thinner than I was before baby.

I’m sure with your health and nutrition background, you’ll be breastfeeding as well, so you’ll see what I mean!

Again, congratulations! Pregnancy is a wonderful, wonderful thing.

Hi Jessie,
Thanks so much! We are now happy parents and yes I’m breastfeeding. The best stuff on Earth for little baby! I’m thrilled to hear you have had great success losing the baby weight utilizing my book after having your baby! That’s wonderful! There’s definitely a learning curve when changing lifestyle habits. And to be thinner afterward is awesome! thank you for sharing with myself and everyone else. You are a great inspiration.
We are excited and blessed to be new parents. Congrats again! Kardena
