Welcome To Vegetarian Month

vegmonthOctober 1st is the kick off to Vegetarian Awareness Month.

So many people are realizing the benefits of a vegetarian based diet and non vegetarians are reducing their total meat consumption. According to the vegetarian times 46 percent of Americans are reducing their meat consumption.

This is excellent news for our environment and your health.

I hope you take this opportunity to strengthen your vegetarian program and to continue to educate yourself on the amazing benefits of a plant based diet.

I had to pick up your meal plans this morning. The fitness world is bombarded with nutrition advice, but the sad thing is that almost all plans that are based on sound nutrional principles from respected authors like John Berardi are heavily based on meat. Advice given is often “eat lots of meat, vegetables and take fish oil.” Most popular vegetarian diets on the other side are extremely carbohydrated and deficient in protein or healthy fats. Kardena, you really are a pioneer putting together a cookie cutter meal plan for vegetarians that takes a lot of planning and obsessing out of our hands. I first thought about using your meals as an inspiration or guideline for my own diet. But then I thought, I might as well follow your 90 day plan to the letter. Taking into account some alternatives for food items that are unavailable locally to me.

I went shopping this evening for ingredients. I had my last junk meal before plunging into a three months eating plan that I going to follow religiously. I had some chocolates, fries, corn chips and a diet coke. Tommorow morning starts day 1 on my vegetarian diet plan. Last week I joined a new gym, I have planned out an exercise program with some strength training (EDT style), a weekly TRX interval Cardio workout and several 20 min cardio sessions I do at home and some early morning yoga. The next 90 days are going to be crazy, I am exited about it and will keep you posted about my progress.

You are in for a great journey! I love your passion and commitment to yourself and the program. I am very excited for your transformation, you are going to kick butt. If I can help you please let me know. Be sure to take before and after pictures because you will be a great inspiration to others.
